Two different Macbook Pros. First is a 13-inch, Mid 2009 (identifier 5,5). Second is a 17inch, Mid 2007 (identifier 3,1). Time Capsule is 1TB, Early 2009 (MB765LL/A). When wired the 2007 and 2009 work no problem. When wireless, the 2009 connects to the Time Machine no problem and backs up properly, using the auto feature where it selects 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ. The 2007 when in auto mode drops from full signal to no signal and fails backup. If I drop the 5ghz wireless N to A only, still doesn't work. if I separate the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ networks to two names and connect to the 2.4GHZ, it is successful but is super slow. It fails with the 5ghz as transmit rate goes down to 8 or 16 and MCS Index goes down to 0. Thoughts? Both computers are running 10.8.2. Firmware on Time Capsule is 7.6.1. The 3,1 Macbook lists the card type as Airport Extreme (0x168c, 0x87), Firmware Version: Atheros 5416: 4.0.70.23-P2P. The 5,5 Macbook lists the card type as AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D), Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.81.22)
