Hey guys i've got question for you.

I have an iMac DV SE original one. 400mhz g3 with 384 megs of ram and an IBM 60 gig HD i installed myself. I've been running 10.1 on it for a while now and os9. I just bought jaguar and i attempted to install it but it can't find the hard drive. I looked in apple's knowlegde base and it says this only happens when the drive is set to slave but it isn't, its set to master. It doesn't find the drive at all and I have no idea how to fix this problem. I'd hate to waste 129 bucks when this should work on my computer especially since i'm writing this using 10.1.5.

Forgot to mention firmware and all software is all upto date.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance peeps.

What you will have to set the jumper on your hard drive to "master". All you will need to do is open your case, remove the HD and pull the jumper pin out with a pair of tweezers. Insert the jumper pin into the "master" position (it will be marked on the HD) and reattatch the HD to the harnass. It should take you less than 5 minutes to open the case, set the HD to correct position and put the case back together.

I have an iMac 350 and I am currently running Jaguar (10.2.2). I also, installed a larger HD (Western Digital 100GB, 7200 RPM) in my iMac before I switched to OS-X. Once you set the HD to "master" you shouldn't have any problems installing Jaguar.

Had the same problem the other day on a G4 867, upgrading from 10.1.5.

I really don't understand the problem exactly, but it has something to do with the disk directories. The disk's file path should have been "/Volumes/Macintosh HD," when was incorrectly marked as "/" I fixed mine with TechTool Pro 3, and I was able to upgrade just fine.

Although TTP3 didn't manage to fix the disk completely. TTP3 still found problems each time, and after the 6th run, I got annoyed, and bought a copy of DiskWarrior, and it did the job beautifully. After DiskWarrior did its run, TTP3 couldn't find any problems.

Once you run either of those utilies from OS 9, you'll be able to install no problem. Good luck.
