Ti Book 867: mirroring not working!

i've just got my new toy -- a ti book 867.

i have a 21" apple colour monitor (circa 1991) and i want to mirror/span to it. i connected the monitor cable to the dvi adaptor that came with my ti book.

well, i only get 800x600 as a resolution for the monitor! my old pismo powerbook, lets me run 1024x768. as my new machine has bag loads more vram i thought it wouldn't be a problem.

i've tried this with another monitor -- an apple 21" multi-scan and i get the same thing.

help!!

ps i'm running 10.2.3 <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

yeah. spanning and mirroring works, but i only get the option of 800x600 for the vga monitor.

but on the same monitor using my pismo, i get higher-res.

has this anything to do with the vga to dvi converter?

it shouldn't. i've hooked up monitors via the DVI to VGA adaptor many times, and been able to go amazingly high for the res.

when you hook them up, do the following.

ctrl-click on the desktop of the second monitor. (i think)

this should bring up the monitor settings/properties. one of them will be an option as to what the monitor is. (model number, brand)

make sure these are correct. the only times i've seen this type of thing happen is if the computer has no idea what the monitor is, and tries to go with a low end default to make sure it works.

if you can get the monitor selected properly you should be able to bring the res. back up.
