Help creating IE Toolbar buttons?

I'm trying to make my own IE toolbar icons, but AppleWorks won't let me make anything less than 36 pixels high (you need it to be no more than 22 or 30 pixels for IE Toolbar icons). Am I doing something wrong? I am in the Painting program, and trying to change the size by the format->document menu.

I know someone is going to tell me to get PhotoShop, But I cannot justify spending $600 to make an IT Toolbar icon.

EDIT: See my next post below for some more questions. Thanks guys.

get <a href="http://www.lemkesoft.de/us_gcabout.html"; target="_blank">GraphicConverter</a> $35 (with CD) or $30 (without CD) you don't need to buy PS. There are alternatives.

I heartily second the recommendation to use Graphic Converter. However, I had another idea. Do you really need to save the graphic as a file? Can you just create it in AW then select it, copy it then paste it into IE?

Heh, Graphics Converter came bundled with my TiBook. It worked! But, now I cannot get the new toolbar icon to work. I created the html file in Word, saved it as an HTML file,, dragged it to IE, and supposedly I should now be able to drag the icon into the toolbar, but it doesn't work.

I followed the directions on both xicons.com and at <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/sergeidoc/IETR/"; target="_blank">http://homepage.mac.com/sergeidoc/IETR/</a>; but it won't work. I can get the icon in the toolbar, but it will just opne up a mirror image of the icon in the browser window instead of taking me to the site I want to link to.

    BTW, I like toolbar icons! I have ones for apple.com, store.apple.com, espn.com, drudgereport.com, foxnews.com, cnn.com, msnbc.com, google.com, forums.appleinsider.com , mosr.com and thinksecret.com.

    I am trying to make ones for <a href="http://www.baseballfans.net/piratestalk"; target="_blank">www.baseballfans.net/piratestalk</a> as well as <a href="http://www.hometheaterforum.com."; target="_blank">www.hometheaterforum.com.</a>

good luck. i tried making an icon and i couldn't get the lines to match up. i emailed sergio for suggestions and they didn' work <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> then later in the one i was making, the graphic disappeared but the title of the link remained <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />
