i've spilled soda on my keyboard many [many] times. i find that speed is an issue. if you can open it quickly, and clean it, then it'll be okay. i usually rub a paper towel over the wet parts, and after several passes, i leave it out for a while. i usually rest it in such a way as to encourage the residual wetness to leave the board. i usually get most keys back. sometimes they lose their springy-ness, which is annoying, but it beats shelling ot cash over such a silly [and redundant] accident.

I spilled like a liter of pepsi on my keyboard. It was very screwed up as i didn't bother to clean it at the time. I just submerged the thing in water with soap and dried it with a hairdryer. works fine.
