The computer maker is introducing a white one-piece desktop machine called the eMac, priced from $999 to $1,999, that resembles the original iMac introduced in 1998. As far as sceen size, the eMate is slightly smaller in viewable area then the 15" LCD on the iMac.

i like it!
But I was considering getting a new iMac for my sister, so she could finally get rid of that Bondi Rev. 'A.' Now I wouldn't think twice now about getting her an eMac instead. She's already use to the design, and would probably appreciate a 17" fixed screen more than a 15" swingarm one.
Apple hardware's in such a sorry state it's not even funny.

The only problem I see are the two exposed speakers in the front. What about a fourth grader with a pencil?
Good education strategy Apple. Now give something to the pros.
EDIT: Whoops, I guess not all of the pictures have those covers. I guess the system comes with it and you can decide weather to use them or not? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Plus, I think it may quitly say "updated iMacs at MWNY."
Or the paris expo at the lastest. It doesn't have the coolness of design or put anywhere quality LCD screen, but other than that, the tech specs are VERY close.
anyway, i am...
...happy my wife is a student-for-life.
...unhappy i am stuck in Canada for another 1.5 years, during which time the eMac MIGHT show up.
heck, i'm happy it at least comes with a swivel stand. the G4 helps, too. ;-) oh yeah, and that 17"...
Besides random predictions about a 17" crt b4 the new iMac came out, we didnt hear a peep about this!
Thanks.
