UMAX Astra 1220u with X problems

UMAX never released a driver for use with os X for this scanner.



VueScan does not work either.



The scanner has both a serial and usb port on the back so I have a feeling that the usb port is actually a conversion from the serial. Is this the problem?



Is there any way I can use the scanner in X or is it time I throw it off a cliff?

    off the cliff. vuescan's always the last resort, IMHO. but get the latest version <a href="http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html"; target="_blank">here</a> just to be sure.

    I have the same scanner and have not been able to get it to work ... I've tried vuescan and several other "hack" drivers .. none work.



    When I bought a cheap WinTel box, I found an XP driver for it and just do the scans there (airport's great ... scans right onto my mac !!!)
