iTunes amnesia

iTunes seems to randomly forget songs' locations. Every once in a while, a song will get a exclamation mark next to it and I have to locate it - of course it's right where it always was. I've got no idea why, when or how this happens. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. The thing is I've never moved songs manually since iTunes 3 started organizing them for me (what a great feature!). Any suggestions?

    i've had the same thing happen every now and then. another strange thing is that when i load it up, it acts like it's the first time ive ever used the program, so...it asks if i wanna go through the itunes setup and scan for media, which i dont. so i have to hit cancel since it asks me this damn question every damn time. but yet it always remembers my playlists. oh well...

    at least i only have to open it about once a month since i never shut it down...
