No, the DVD Player wouldn't recognize it. You have to use something like <a href="http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/index.jhtml"; target="_blank">Toast</a> ($74.95) from Roxio to burn a VCD. I'm not sure if Toast does SVCDs though.
