Film to DV
Hi all,
What's the best way to get old movies, 8, super 8, 16 (I don't remember) onto the Mac for iMovie?
Yea there's companies that do it but they transfer to VHS or DVD (can I get DVD into iMovie?). Plus I'm not sure how easy of a job it is. That is my father's old movie is cut together and may not be in great shape.
I'm tempted to borrow a DV camera and just shoot it off the screen. With a good set up it may look okay.
Anyone take on a project like this?
Then I have to get the audio in which is on reel to reel but that's a whole 'nother thread.
TIA

Realize that film transfer is a professional service, and you'll be paying those kinds of prices for it

I'll at least try shooting it off the screen. You can get good results that way wiht a carefull setup.
it was only a device to set up in front of the projector with mirrors and halftransparent screens.
dont know a brandname anymore...
ask a photo-guy
He said, film, and he means *film*... you know, celluloid, little holes on the side, linear sequence of pictures...
Jeez, kids these days.
you either go the way of expensive, and proffesional, or tape it off the projector
depends on how much the memories mean to you...................

Film. As in, projector with light bulb.
