iMac PowerPC G5 update help
I just picked up an iMac G5, and never having owned one before, I did not know what I was getting. That being said, I now need to figure out what my options are for updating a few programs. I will mainly be using this to surf the web, but would like to be able to share itunes and put movies on it. It currently has itunes 4 on it, and I am not sure what version I can upgrade to. It is running Safari 3.0.4 and would like to update that as well. I tried to put firefox on, but the new version was not allowed. Also, the operating system is 10.4.11, and I would like to update that as well. Any info or help with this is much appreciated. Here are the machine specs...
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac8,1
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.0)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 512 MB
Thanks

It would be a good idea to upgrade the RAM too. 512MB is not very much. You can go up to 2GB:

10.5.8 would let you run Safari 5 and iTunes 10.
