HELP with tcp/ip on 7100

I'm setting up a 7100 system 7.5.3 with a tcp/ip connection using FreePPP. It was formerly used as an ethernet networked computer. I get a "tcp/ip cannot be used because it is locked or being used by another program" message. When I open the tcpip icon in the system, use get info, it is not locked. any ideas? <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
