I like the design. It looks like something Apple would do. I don't like that it's plastic; that's really depressing.

And hey, they could release this thing any time, couldn't they? It's not like the target audience has any money in the first place; they don't have to worry about "two year cycles".

But oh, great, now WWDC will be about this and this alone.

God I hope it isn't about this alone. Apple update cycles have gotten so long that sadly WWDC needs to be as big and crazy as all the past rumors used to suggest.

All iApps need to be updated.

Most Macs need to be updated.

The iPhone needs to be updated.

It's pretty sad that this is the MINIMUM that needs to be done.

Wait, the iPhone certainly doesn't need updated at WWDC. Unless you were going for the "everything must be done" crap that analysts throw around, in which case you missed quite a bit. image

It's not coming from the analysts. It's coming from the fact that most of their software solutions and large amounts of their hardware is long in the tooth.

Of course it's coming from the analysts. People who don't actually pay attention demand everything updated every time. And those people are analysts, as well as uninformed users with mild interest.

That's why we're seeing OS X, iOS, iMacs, MacBooks, and possibly Mac Mini and Pro models at WWDC.

It's not (shouldn't be) a place for iDevices anymore. They don't update iDevices more than once a year, so October.
