As promised, AppleInsider's Mac Price Guides were expanded over this past week to include 19 configurations of Apple's new MacBook Air (both with and without AppleCare) at the lowest prices anywhere, in addition to several MacBook Pro with Retina Display models that now work with our exclusive coupons, for savings up to $1,150.

MacBook Air

The New Mac Price Guide and New Macs with AppleCare Price Guide now list 19 of the most popular 2013 MacBook Air configurations, scaling from Apple's basic retail configs to fully loaded versions of both the 11-inch and 13-inch models. Meanwhile, 2012 MacBook Air models are now offered at significant discount in our Closeouts Price Guide.

Introduced last week, the new ultra-portable notebooks now feature all day battery life, fourth generation Intel Core processors with faster graphics, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and flash storage that is up to 45 percent faster than the previous generation. Apple also knocked $100 off the suggested retail price for the 13-inch models, which now start at just $1,009.00.

However, any AppleInsider readers who click through the MacMall links in this article or our Price Guides and then enter Promo Code APPLEINSIDER01 on the product page will save an additional 3% off the retailer's already discounted prices, yielding the lowest prices anywhere on MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs and iMacs. MacMall also last week extended the promotion to roughly a dozen additional 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina configurations which previously did not qualify.

Use the links in our guides to active the Promo Code field at MacMall.com, paste in "APPLEINSIDER01" and click "Apply."

The 3% discount is available only when ordering online and online orders for brand new products like the new MacBook Airs are processed in the order they are received. Standard configurations are shipping out almost daily, and custom configurations within 3-5 business days. It's also worth noting that unlike stores like Apple, Wal-Mart, and Target, MacMall only collects sales tax in CA, IL, NY, TN, MN, GA, NC, WI, yielding even greater savings for most shoppers.

Meanwhile, readers who are looking to bundle their new MacBook Air with 3-years of AppleCare Extended Warranty Protection can use the links in our guides for exclusive pricing on MacBook Air+AppleCare bundles from B&H, as can be seen in the segment of our Macs with AppleCare Price Guide below. And as an added incentive, the Manhattan-based super store only charges sales tax for orders shipped within its home state of New York. It does not collect sales tax on orders shipped to other states.

Upgrade for less

Readers who are upgrading from a previous MacBook should consider offsetting the cost of the new MacBook by requesting a price quote from Gazelle or one of the other buy-back services listed in the price guides that will pay cash for your used Apple gear. (They then clean up your used Apple gear and resell it in emerging markets for a profit)..

Trade-in

If, for instance, you have a 2012 MacBook Air that you've kept in good condition, your net cost of upgrading to a 2013 model could be as little as a few hundred dollars once you trade in a well-preserved existing model.

The services typically let you lock in a trade-in rate for 30 days, meaning you have plenty of time to take receipt of your new Mac and make sure all your files are in order before wiping your old Mac and mailing it in.

If you sell anything to Gazelle, you might as well pull out a stack of hundred dollar bills and light them on fire. You can get double on eBay what you'd make off Gazelle, including selling fees.

When I enter the promo code "APPLEINSIDER01" at the MacMall site for the 13" MacBook Air (1.30GHz/4GB/256GB)), I get the message, "Please enter a valid Promo Code", and the price is not discounted.

    What's up with that?
