WhatsApp Virus Attacks Android... not iOS

As I posted on the Android vulnerability thread, I thought that due to WhatsApp being ubiquitous on most mobile phones here in Germany, it would be the first to probably see an exploit using the publicized hole in Android.

Yesterday this came in my RSS feed from Chip.de (German):

WhatsApp Virus Priyanka Changes Contacts and Adressbook

Also this from Slashdot:

Code Released To Exploit Android App Signature Vulnerability

The future is not looking bright for Android fans.

Those two things have nothing to do with each other.

Priyanka uses a bug in WhatsApp that allows an new WhatsApp contact file to rename the current WhatsApp contacts.

Stop the app, delete its data, restart.

Yes... that is true... but as it's been reported, this is only on Android devices. While an inconvenience for some people, this could be very difficult for others to fix.

And I might add... if you read my post regarding WhatsApp being a widely-used App on both platforms, I think it's the perfect host for far more malicious "viruses" and/or exploits. Again... only on Android.
