Computers on Network Browser

I'm running OS 9.1 and I'm hooked up to the internet with a cable modem. Just as a lark I brought up the network browser and lo and behold ten different computers came up. Where are these computers? Is someone peeking in to my system or are they just other users on my cable line or something?

    Apartment building in NYC. I'm actually wondering if it's the other tenants on the cable line.

    They are probably other tenets in the building.
