Missing System Preferences :(

After a week of running my computer at full cpu load (backing up my DVD collection using fourty-two) while using it for email, internet at the same time it crashed on a skip on a DVD (i guess).



when I started up again my 'users/groups' system pref pane was missing so are a at least one other pref pane but Im not sure which one...



Does anyone know how to recover the links to these prefs? I also have display and a Keyboard showing up in the 'Other' category as well as where they belong...





fyi: I have run disk repair and permissions repair already but to no avail.



any help is appreciated

    i had exactly same problem and i remember trashing something to solve it...



    But i don't remember what... :-(

    Lemme dig a bit here..



    And no it does not require reinstall.

    Here:

    I had to emty library/caches and ~/library/caches folders.

    Great thanks, worked like a charm. I logged into another account and its pref panes were fine so I only punted the one prefpane cache file in my home directory. Worked straight-away.



    This should be called the Super-Genius bar

    Nope, I will not be affected today by your negative-ray. Everyone who helps is a super genius, except Defiant who is completely comfortable being a nominal genius.
