Pausing processes?
Is it possible to 'pause' a process without actually killing the application? I'm thinking something like the suspend command (^z) from the CLI. I ask because right now VPC is eating 20% of my cpu doing absolutely nothing and quitting it is like pulling teeth sometimes. I'd like to be able to pause it until I'm ready to use it. Any suggestions (other than saving state and quitting it... that's not fun to do b/c it can lock up my machine for upto 2 minutes ) ?
You'd think that if connnectix couldn't get VPC running faster, they would at least figure out how to make it idle properly...

<strong>I can't remember the CLI tool for sending the sigpause command to a process, but this little app claims to be able to pause and resume processes the same. I heaven't tried it myself; so, YMMV.

Brad, you are a fountain of knowledge. I bow down to your incredible knowledge of all things mac. Thanks. It did the trick!
Go heels! Kick some 'pack ass!!!
edit: aggghhh! This program does exactly what I want, but it takes 10% cpu time, just sitting there! Better than 20% for VPC, but good grief, where have all the good programmers gone? Surely they don't all work at Omni and Apple, right?
edit, part deux: well, I jumped the gun. It looks like its cpu usage died down. Maybe it was doing something at the time. Whatever, it's good enough.
