New iOS User Mail Account Questions
Hello, I recently switched from Android to a iPhone 5 a few days ago and have things up and running so far. There are a couple of Mail problems that I have I was hoping some more experienced iOS users could help me with.
The first is, if I load my Gmail account through the default Mail app in iOS, I don't get notification (badges, alerts, etc.) for new emails immediately, but if I use the Gmail app I do. I have set it as: Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars >Fetch New Data > Gmail > Fetch Every 15 minutes (as there is no Push option for this.) Is this the fastest and only way?
Secondly, when I use the default Mail app, when I am in the Inbox I do not see an option to delete the email from there, only Archive, Label, etc. I have to go to "All Mail" to be able to actually delete a email. I rather not go to All Mail because it includes, well "All Mail" (Received, sent, etc.), when all I want to see is the Inbox.
Everything else seems to work fine for me, though it does take some getting used to coming from Android.
Thank you for any help!

Hi,
(If you haven't already sorted this out with a quick google search)
I'll deal with the easy one first - there are a few options to delete an email:
When the message is open and taking up the whole screen there should be a trash can icon at the bottom.
When they're listed, swipe your finger across the message, and the trash option should pop up.
As for your quickest way to get gmail, without the push notifications you're stuck with the 15 min option, or if gmail is the only email you use, then the gmail app or similar.
I have been using the "mailbox " app, and find it excellent. It synchronises immediately with ipad and iPhone, and works with gmail as the only option at the moment to source email from - which should suit you perfect

As for the trash issue, if you go I to the account settings I believe there is a toggle for archive v delete so the file box would then become a trash can etc
