Help! Finder not launching on startup

I was working in Photoshop and it crashed and so I restarted it. It did it again so I thought it would be a good idea to restart OSX(10.2.4). When I did the Unix command line appeared instead of the finder. I know simple unix commands, but how do I get the finder to launch on startup?

Unfortunately, I have a crap load of stuff to do tonight and have to get everything done... Any help would be appreciated!

run fsck several times until you don't get 'the file system was modified' message. Then shutdown -r now may help. Otherwise boot from a MacOS X CD, perform disk repair, repair permissions and try to boot normally again.
