Size limit on FTP?

Is there a max filesize limit on FTP transfers? I am trying to send a 8GB FCP movie to a PC over FTP. (I have another 50GB movie but I am not done with that one yet.) If there is, are there good alternatives other than AIM? Which also doesn't work for all different reasons. I have an external hard drive I could use, but it is Mac formatted.

    You should do "man largefile" on both systems to see if both have an ftp that supports file transfers greater than 2 GB. If you can already do 8 GB transfers, then both systems should support file sizes in terabytes and petabytes if they have the space (User filesize limits also apply).
