telnet in terminal is slow

I am using telnet in terminal and its is being slow compared to telnet on my pc laptop. Side by side connected to the same site the telnet on the mac via terminal sometimes takes several seconds for a command to go through. Any idea if there is something I can tweak to change this?

    what do you need the telnet for? try ssh.

    Yeah, telnet is a no no, as it has no security. Always use SSH, everything should support it by now.

    Ok, I have to use telnet. Anyways I think its just the way terminal handels text.
