diagnosing freeze up problem on MacBook 4.1 (early 2008)

Im running 10.7.5 on a MAcbook with 4gb of RAM. Everything seems to work, but regularly (several times a day) it freezes up and I get an message in a multilingual black box that says I need to shut down and restart. Any clues to what is causing this or how I can find out how to diagnose the problem....

The message you see is a kernel panic. The errors go into a panic.log located at /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. If you open the panic.log, you will see a trace of the error. The most important information is where it says that a thread has crashed. You can paste the whole thing in if you want. Also is the following the machine you have?:
