Problems creating new iPhoto library from importing photos
I am using OS10.9 on two iMacs and two laptops. I lost the iPhoto library on the one iMac, not sure what happened, this included over 17,000 photos. On the second iMac , exported to a folder on the desktop over 28,000 photos, then transferred the folder to the first iMac. A new iPhoto library was created then the 28,000 photos were imported into this library. About 100 of these photos had the wrong date, the year was wrong. I corrected dates and in the process all 28,000 photos dates were changes to yesterdays date. Not sure what to do next. This process took hours to do. Perhaps iPhoto is not the application for this use?

It might be worth a try to see if you can get the library back in order.
