12" PowerBook vs. Buffalo Airstation

in Genius Bar edited January 2014
I got my 12" PowerBook today and it's great. However, it only partly works with my a Buffalo AirStation (it's an 802.11g access point and router in one).

Although I can happily browse the web with Safari, the Mac can't resolve <a href="http://www.apple.com"; target="_blank">www.apple.com</a> . If you type in the corresponding IP address (, found by pinging <a href="http://www.apple.com"; target="_blank">www.apple.com</a> on my PC) it works fine. All other URLs I've tried (including the non apple.com ones on the Apple website) work fine. This happens for both Airport and Ethernet.

The basestation gives the Mac ethernet addresses by DHCP, both wired and wireless, with no trouble.

This doesn't happen with the other wired nodes on the network (a Windows 2000 PC and a Mac running 8.6). <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

how do you have the IP addresses configured on the router? DHCP, have you tried resetting the router? are there any router IP presets that would conflict with apple.com's IP address?

Yes, all of the IP addresses are assigned by DHCP and the PowerBook is definitely given an IP address on both the Airport card and the 10/100 port (when it's plugged in). The only preset IP address on the router is, which is the router's address. Accessing <a href="http://www.apple.com"; target="_blank">www.apple.com</a> works from all of the other machines on the router.

I'll update to 10.2.4 to see if it solves the problem (currently at 10.2.3).

I'm posting this wirelessly from my PowerBook.
