how does terminal work?

everytime i try to use it it doesn't work.



does it only work when you start-up holding apple + s?



i can use it when i do that

    What do you mean when you say that it doesn't work. Does the application not launch properly? If it isn't launching properly, and you have the latest OS update 10.2.4 then I would first repair your disk permissions with Disk Utility, and see if that works.

    Yeah. That will probably fix it. About the terminal, the "is" command isn't working on my Mac. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

    well my main problem is i'm not familar with unix



    my other problem was something wasn't installed



    but my wife knows some unix and is going to be a programmer, so she helped me out, she looked on the internet



    it works

    what is the "is" command supposed to do? i don't seem to have it either. did you mean "ls"? and when you say it didn't work, what happened that wasn't expected?
