iMac Advice

Hello all,

First time posting on here, avid reader though, forgive me if I post in the wrong section of the forum.

My question is; my father in law was looking for a cheap alternative to his very slow Windows PC. Searched craigslist after we strongly suggested any Apple products, found an iMac for $250 (iMac, keyboard, mouse) so he went ahead and purchased it. Its a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz memory. He loves it, 100x faster than the PC. Is there anyway without purchasing a newer model iMac to upgrade the Memory/Processor? I lack experience in the iMac region of Apple so I'm asking for all of your opinions.

Thanks in advance!

Olesh

    CPU? ...Not possible at all.

    RAM? ... easy!

There's a panel under the bottom edge... a screw or two to remove it, and the RAM is located in there... search on Apple Support for the specific directions for your specific model (as well as how much RAM it will support)... but you should be able to install 2x2GB at least. (Though some older models were only able to address 3GB in that configuration.)
