Strange iTunes problem...

I am using a 550 Mhz Tibook, 512 mb ram, and OS 10.2.4

I have, fortunately had very little techinical problems with my machine, but recently I noticed while playing mp3's the sound output of iTunes drops away to nothing for about 5 seconds and then returns, I have never experienced anything like this before. The HD is fine, it's not noisy at all,

and no loud 'clicks'.



If anyone could help me on this one that would be great,

    Check your settings to make sure you don't have a long cross fade?

    Is it just the iTunes output or is all sound muted? You could try another MP3 player to test this.
