Going out with a bang! My good riddance message to MacRumors

Of course this post didn't last more than one minute before being deleted by an overzealous moderator there (primary rule: Thou shalt not discuss moderation in public!) - in any case, I just post it here so I don't lose this short intellectual creation of mine:

"Well, after almost one month on yet another forced “timeout” following allegations of “trolling and derailing a thread”, I am finally ready to wish everyone a Happy 2014 and part ways with this hitherto interesting website.

This place used to be a very useful online environment for healthy and lively Apple-related discussions, as well as free technical support from many experienced users.

Unfortunately, due to an overdose of fuzzy “rules”; ridiculously childish, arbitrary and "holier than thou" moderation standards; a condescending attitude in regard to security breaches; and a misleading inline advertising approach, it is time to explore other pastures instead of constantly going against those who love to luxuriate in such little power.

Were more than 5,000 posts and a “macrumors 603” status all for naught? Of course not, as I have, since 2005, enjoyed exchanging countless views with those mature enough to have a clash of ideas, helping new Mac/iDevice users, and being helped by other experienced Apple fans.

But nowadays it is just too difficult to accept this kind of moderation bullshit every time someone disagrees with my opinion or can't stand ironic remarks; nor do I have the time to keep arguing against that (since for those “in charge” it must be so difficult to justify anything less than a long suspension on such a “rebel” member).

It was great while it lasted; but apparently some have forgotten that forums such as this have their sole value in their active members…so goodbye to the good-hearted virtual “friends” I have talked to over all these years (including users such as “bedifferent”, “Aiden Shaw” and many others), and GOOD RIDDANCE to the rest.

In the light of the above, I hereby demand that my account, along with all personal/contact information related to the user “BRLawyer” which may be stored or otherwise processed by this site, be permanently removed with IMMEDIATE effect.

In any case, please feel free to find me on AppleInsider, where I will try to participate on a fairly regular basis despite my very busy professional life.

With kind regards,

BRLawyer"

I think the standard response is, "Proud of you".

Never frequented MR but there always seems to be a lot of refugees!

Too much Android talk over there.   It's like sleeping with the enemy.

It's funny to see how different reactions can be - I even got a private message here on AI with an angry reaction to my considerations above ("you're a dork", "lame ass" whatever etc.) - just the kind of reaction that would lead to "suspension" on MR... :D

Anyway, it's time to streamline - my professional life doesn't allow for much online activity nowadays, and I don't feel like giving away my privacy or arguing over every single thing with strangers...my Bookface account is also deleted, and GMail will be next.

I would have to agree for the most part. I've also left macrumors. The mods there are ridiculous. The whole site has dropped and become a website if whiny 12 year olds it seems.
