M$ Steals Again
I downloaded the M$ Windows CE SDK thingie just for the PocketPC 2002 emulator. When I got everything installed and ran the emulator, I noticed something very typical of M$.
They not only stole ideas from the Palm OS, but Newton as well (one of the most noticeable things from the Newton that is in PocketPC is the bottom menubar and the "New" menu). So basically, PocketPC 2002 = Palm + Newton + Windows. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> *puke*
It is very cumbersome and disorganized, and the UI elements are not always perfectly lined up. I'm glad I spent my money on a Palm instead of a wanna-be-everything PDA.

Also when did Palm OS have menu bar at the bottom ? last time I check they still need to press some button then menu bar will popup from the top.
I guess they only copied from Newton, there's like nothing they could copying from Palm OS.
<strong>putting menubar at the bottom is the only sensible way to organize a touch screen based system, that might be copying but I am glad they did it. And why having a "new" button is copying ??

Heh heh - no need to rush into defense mode... Read the facts, too. Palms do not have a menubar at the bottom of the screen (they are at the top, much like Mac OS), but there were some things taken from Palm OS as well. You'll have to go use a Newton, a Palm, and then a PocketPC and you'll know what I mean.
BTW - one of the main things stolen from the Palm is the option of graffiti handwriting recognition. M$ has their own, and they also provide a choice of the Palm recognition. Unless they licensed the technology from Palm, that could be illegal...Oh well...I guess M$ is all about illegal stuff.

LoL .. How long did it take for you to figure out one thing M$ stolen from palm . Graffiti, did you read the news recently, some company is getting sued by Xerox for copying thier uni-stroke technology. I guess if Microsoft need to license a technology, they probably need to do it with Xerox.
And no that wasn't defense mode, just wanna tell you there really isn't anything for M$ to copy from palm, it's like asking what did M$ copied from DOS to windows .... hmm ... nothing.
