ipod processor?

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
i'm a bit unlearned when it comes to digital hub tech specs, but i was wondering, just out of curiousity, what processor is in the ipods? does anyone know? i know it wouldn't b like the g4 or anything like that, but would it be the same ones used in palms? is it made by motorola? just wondering.

    It's an ARM; Palms use 68K Dragonball CPUs (for now).

    In all the iPod dissection photos I've seen, there's been no evidence to suggest the iPod uses an ARM.

    iPod uses a PP5002B-C chip made by PortalPlayer. PP5002B chip has a ARM7 TDMI based core with a coprocessor dedicated to real time encoding acceleration. It can decode and encode MP3, WAV, and AIFF. Too bad Apple didn't include a sound in jack... Flashing other decoders to the firmware would involve coding an integer decoder, thus will probably decrease the long battery life the iPod gets.
