The iPod and other pda possibilities

The ipod can play music, has a hard drive you can put important things from computer on as backup, it has games, well game, and it now has a calender function on it. When are we going to see this thing develope into a full fledged pda?

I think it is a real possibility especially for people with a good imagination. However a hate to dispute my own points but...

The fact that apple currently has 15 or so prototypes floating around the company kind of eliminates the possibilities of the ipod getting upgraded to a PDA.

Whats everybody elses opinion on the PDA?

I don't think it will ever be a real PDA in it's current form, seeing as there would be no easy way to enter data. It is incredibly well suited for viewing information (as it does now). I think Apple should try to keep it that way. Making it complicated and difficult is completely against what the iPod is supposed to be.

How big is Hollis, NH? Two Apple PDA hopefuls on the same message board, in the same small state in the same small TOWN? Are you Fran by any chance?

But, on topic, I don't think an Apple PDA is in the works. At least by Apple. I could easily see some company leveraging the technology in place (LDAP, SynchML, Bluetooth and Inkwell), to make a super kick-ass PDA though. Throw in Rendezvous (with 802.11b) and we're talking a PocketPC buster. The possibilities are truly exciting. I just hope Apple is working towards making them a reality.

No offence, but do you think fran would make a new account to post in the exact same forums he posts in now? and he would keep the place he lives in the same? I know fran and thought I might get a rise out of him by posting in a section he has to mod.

Back on the topic at hand.

You are right. With all the aps comming out for the mac its abasically telling us their might be a new pda. Inkwell is a new platform in hand recognition. No longer will we have to learn the scribble alphabet for the palm. Also rendezvous will make it so easy to coordinate your home life with your personal life it would be crazy.

I think a new apple pda is a real possibility at this point.
