4pin - 6pin Firewire Cables
Hey,
Anybody have any info on 4 pin - 6 pin firewire cables? I need one for my digital camcorder and I don't understand the price differences. Other than the lenth of the cable why should the prices vary so much. I've seen a 6ft cable for $14.95 and ones as much as $99.00.
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I just bought a couple from <a href="http://www.scsipro.com/catalog/pg18_firewirecables.htm" target="_blank">Granite Digital</a>. Their stuff is premium (for a premium price).
From them, a 6ft. 4-to-6 cable costs $40.
$99!? Must be pure gold or something...
Another higher quality maker is Monster Cable (available at Amazon and Buy.com).
I would avoid the absolute cheapest. I've seen a Tripp Lite 6ft. 4/6 cable for $6, yeesh, avoid. Belkin, Cables-to-Go and others make decent cables.
So the short answer is: avoid ultra cheap & a more realistic range for that cable is $15 to $40.

I only use the extra length when I do occasional QuickTime streaming from the the DV camcorder.

$99.00. I thought that was alittle excessive.

This is one of a few that I saw for that price. Macmall has a couple of 4pin to 6pin cables for $99.00 and one for $129.00. I just can't figure paying that kind of money for a cable.
