iPod Things I Like To Know

Hi all I?m thinking about getting a iPod after the next update as I hope they will fix most of the bugs with the battery dieing to quick in them.....

But there is one thing I would be interested in finding out and I hope you can help me...I remember some time back a company came to the MacWorld with a peace of hardware that you could attach at the top of the iPod to make it transmit the music like a transmitter so you could tune in the radio in the same room and hear the music off the iPod on the radio or HiFi in the room.

Now I haven?t see it around since as I remember they where asking if people would be interested in one if they released the product. I haven?t heard of it since and was wondering if it going to come out or if it has come out as that would be something I?d like to have with my iPod (that is if they fix the bugs in them) when I get it some time next year.

now that the iPods come with the remote, you probably wouldn't want a device that prevented you from using it...

I know the device you are referring to, and although it seems like an elegant solution, it could be much better. FOr one it uses AAA batteries instead of being powered by the FW port that it uses for stability... It covers the "hold" switch...

there are better solutions out there such as a tape adapter and FM transmitters like the iRock that can be used with anything, not just the iPod exclusively.

The polymer battery, which I understand is made by Sony, was used practically for the first time in the iPod. Some cell phone use also started about the same time. Being a new technology there were some problems with some of the batteries but not all. It was not a bug. My battery in the original 5 Gig iPod started having problems about 11 months after I purchased the player. However, these problems were not systemic to all iPods. A very small percentage had defective batteries. The early problems have been solved. Apple replaced my iPod with a new one.
