iPod Headphone/Remote Jack

I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about what I should do. I noticed today as I was getting ready to listen to my iPod, that the plastic part that houses the 3 metal connectors for the remote was slightly broken. It still works fine and now that I think about it, the connector has probably been broken for at least a week! I was curious if anyone had suggestions about what I should do. It is out of warranty but how much is apple care?

    its a known issue with some of the remotes....let them know and they will send you a new one for free (and even let you keep the broken one!)
