Doesn't anyone else think it's a bit weird that MacWhispers posted the letter on behalf of DVForge, when in fact it seems that they are both owned by the same person ... our friend who tries to sell other people's furniture as his own.

Damn, I was about to post this up in Future Hardware.

As far as the article goes, it doesn't sound all that revolutionary...it's just an Apple tablet. If Apple were to make a Newton-style device now, they should follow the same formula behind the iPod and the original Palm: a device that does everything one needs, as opposed to throwing in everthing but the kitchen sink.

And $999? way too expensive for the market I think this device would be aimed at. I'd much rather get the $999 iBook, if I had a choice between the two.

Interesting read to say the least. But Apple decided to not release a handheld a few years ago (despite being ready to go) and I don't know if they ever will attempt to make one again.

Frankly I think iSync is a sign that Apple has decided really not to bother with their own handheld and there is no way they would even consider releasing one that was $999. Maybe as a mac tablet computer but I don't think the market is there yet.

If anything they should just repackage a palm if they wanted a new handheld with just small changes in handwriting and interface to make it look more Aqua.
