iMovie 3 won't run on iBooks ???

So I finally bought a videocamera .... When I try to start up iMovie 3 it tells me "switch screen resolution to 1024x768 or better, then start iMovie".



Well, this here iBook SE has a max screen res of 800x600 .... is there any way around this problem ??? I can't imagine why I shouldn't be able to run iMovie ... if I am willing to deal with the cramped screen and overlapping windows !!!



(Or maybe this is a good excuse to buy a pBook) .... no, I don;t really want to go that route.... yet.

Sorry. Sometimes advances in software require upgraded or newer hardware. OS X, 10.2 is running great on my older iMac, but i just know at some point I'm not going to be able to keep on upgrading the software with out a major peformance hit.

Looks like Apple wants you to buy a new computer. And by disabling monitor spanning or even mirroring at higher resolutions, they've made it conveniently impossible for you to use their newest software.



Pretty typical of Apple to do that sort of crap.

actually those iBooks did NOT have video out... so that 800X600 res was set as soon as he purchased the machine... one of the biggest problems with the First generation of iBooks...

Not just apple! My 5 year old dell desktop doesn't even support DVI! Fvcking Dell



And get this! My 6 year old laptop doesnt have usb!!! I hate IBM. They are such a $hitty company for not putting every possible feature on every product in their lineup as soon as they had it developed. I MEAN THEY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY SO REALLY THEY ARE STEALING FROM ME...

Okay, you have a point. Although my name is Luca, not Luco. I shouldn't expect every model in Apple's lineup to have all the features of the pro models. However...



A friend of mine just got a pretty good deal on a used 933 MHz Quicksilver G4 to replace his 500 MHz iMac. He wants to put his 4x Superdrive (which used to be in an external firewire case) in it to replace the 2x OEM drive, but it won't fit because of the very thin opening for drives on the Quicksilver case. The PowerMac isn't a consumer computer, but in this case it looks like Apple is putting form over function even in their high-end products. I don't know if the situation has changed with the MDD PowerMacs... I hope it has. But then again, any company would do this sort of crap.



So Apple does do crap, but so does everyone else. That's just how business works.

OK ... I understand that my hardware is old (my God ! almost 3 years !!!)



But iMovie2 works just fine (I'm back to that version now) ... I don't see what the screen res has to do with wether or not iMovie3 can boot, but it does (Apple's subliminal message to buy a new machine.) I'd rather deal with a cramped screen for now, than shell out $3200 for a new pBook ! ... In any case ... they could have let me know during the install processs that it wouldn't work ... saved me the hassel of having to re-load version 2.



OK ... enough bitching ... now that I've worked out my problems... I was just looking forward to using that "ken Burns" stuff and integrating with iTunes and iPhoto ... poor me !!!!

Sorry King, I wasnt directing agnst at you, but luca (even I make typos, luca). I think the real reason the screen resolution requirement jumped up was the new increased sophistication of the timeline(s). 800 pixels just doesn't give you enough room for the new tools.
