Cell Phone
I'm a little lost with what cell phones can be used as a remote for my powerbook. My few questions are:
What phones are in the US for sale now or soon that are compatible?
What can they do in terms of remote capability, especially in comparison to the remote available from keyspan (how far away will they work)?
Are any other accessories needed or just the phone?
Anyone have any experience with them?
Sorry for being a pain, I just don't want to buy a remote when I could switch just switch cell phone companies and not end up losing any money or having extra technologies hanging around.
Thanks,
Dan

The T68i is available from Amazon.com for free after rebates. You have to sign up for a T-Mobile phone plan. I have the Get more plan which includes 600 anytime minutes, free long distance, no roaming charges, and unlimited weekend minutes (keep an eye out for unlimited nights, they just ended a promotion but may restart it soon). The T68i it is the most compatible phone with iSync and the remote software. Plus it is the phone Apple uses in their powerbook promo video (the one where Ives and Schiller talk about the powebooks)
Here's a link to the software site: http://homepage.mac.com/jonassalling/Shareware/Clicker/

Wait, I stand corrected. depending on your zip code and availability, the T68i is available from ATT for $50 after rebate. I am checking on Cingular now.

I currently have nextel and was just wondering the options. I've used AT&T before, but never cingulair or T Mobile.

I have T Mobile and find it to be a great phone company. Of course coming from Verizon Wireless it should be!

Yeah, and I hate the commercials. "Wait, what do you mean you can't hear me???" is more like it from what I've read.
