Futureshop, Microsoft,Win XP: True story
Everyone here knows that Microsoft is selling really hard on XP's multimedia capability. ie. Video editing, digital photo...
But here is a true story that I witnessed....
Once upon a time <----
When I was looking for some blank CDs in futureshop. I saw a big sign of "Windows XP demo day" hosted by MS and HP... Couple of people in there watching the sales person doing demo. There was one guy with very distinglish looking (that's why I really remember him) was 'delighted' by the video editing software (blah).....
Then he bought a $1000 HP Pavilion with XP preinstalled...
Sounds good to him....but one thing he didn't realize was that the machine didn't come with firewire ports!
Then a few days later.....when I went to the same Futureshop again to buy more blank CDs for my borther.....I saw that guy standing at the customer service desk, bitching and yelling about his machine.....
He said he couldn't do any video editing.....said the people in there are lying, and said he would never shop in FS again....
Hm.....yeah....people always believe words from big corporations and sales pepole.....but well...they are only average joe...can't blame them
EDIT: Those demo people in there only talk about the OS and software and never mention hardware.....when customer wants to buy computer they have to go to those 'xperienced' sales people

I remember back when they actually had Macs displayed right at the front of the store, and a real Mac software section!
I wish there was one around here where I'm going to school.

You should have told him, then directed him over to the mac section (does Futureshop sell Macs?) and explained to him how he could get everything he wanted even if he just got an iMac or iBook.
