Calendar duplication

I have a IPad - older model - running IOS 7.1 currently.  Problem is that all appointments appear three times in the time block, side-by-side.  The email home is Gmail, connected to the IPad calendar.  This showed up some time ago, before IOS 7 was released. 

 

Is there a setting I am missing that can correct this?   So far, only three duplications, but always three.
