I miss PRO GO WHOA
Does anyone remember after Steve came back to Apple that they twice updated the Apple homepage with a hint about new products.
I believe it was only the night before the "Apple Event" but the 2 I remember were:
The apple page with 3 images and nothing else:
a cookie
a shopping cart
a screw driver
to signify the new "chip" (G3), the online store and the build to order option
Then a few months later there was
PRO
GO
WHOA
Pro was the Professional line of Power Macs, GO was the Wall Street G3 Powerbooks and of course, WHOA was the iMac.
Now we just get invitations to the press about a "revolutionary new product".

Almost. That was after they released the products. I'm talking about the day before when we didn't know what they were. I thought it was fun Apple to hint like that.
Wow, that web archive is pretty cool. Now I can sort of still live in the past

That sounds cool. Too bad they don't do that anymore.

Hey! That's the one that sold me on the iMac! That is the original one with the infared port in the left speaker! I got that one (my Mom has it now).
Would it be a collector's item now...or just another technical doorstop...?

Why would the infared port make it a collectors item? All Rev A and Bs had them.

I think he meant the fact that its the first iMac, not that it had the infared port.

Oh, ok. To me it seemed like he meant that he thought it might be a collectors item because of the infered port.
I don't know about the iMac, but there was a Classic, SE, Plus, or 512K next to Gray's Sports Almanac in the antique shop in the year 2015...

heh
Here we go with the Movies thing again...
