What happened to the PPC Logo?

Remember the PPC logo that was on ALL Macs? Apple slowly quit displaying it on their product line. I dont even see it on the cardboard box anymore.

Intel is smart with their "Intel Inside" logo. Apple knows this, but doesn't brag about the PPC chip at all.

Whay did Apple yank the PPC logo? Was Apple under a contract by IBM or something to use that?

Heck, Apple doesnt have an apple logo on the fron of the QuickSilver anymore....kinda weird considering the Apple logo is as famous as the McDonald's arch and the Nike swoosh!

Didnt I hear that IBM wanted to start a new "Built on PPC Technology" campaign?

It was always kind of lackluster.

It needs some....magic pixie dust or something. Maybe an exclamation point and a flashing background.

    Or better yet...iRDF

I think that it's too long and just doesn't fit in with Apple's notion of aesthetics. G3/G4/G5 is much bolder as is short and to the point.

The logo hasn't been on any of the transulcent products (iMac, iBook, PowerMac). I don't know when it left the PowerBooks.

the majority of computing consumers are a pretty dense crowd, and they often confused PowerPC with an actual PC (like the previous poster implied) ... seriously. when i demo'd products for apple on the side back in '97-98, i swear at least one person everyday would ask me "it says PC here on the box... does that mean it'll run windows 95?" :o
