Find out if they carry Firewire HDs or Radeon cards.
Seriously, I've got an Apple Gift card here for $100 and am wondering what sort of peripheral I could get - those are two things I need/want - maybe. I know I won't be able to get a FW HD for $100 but I don't mind spending some of my own cash. See if they have a good 80GB one. They offer a lacie 80 GB HD at the online store and I'm wondering if the offerings there are representative of what they carry in the retail stores. They don't carry Radeons at the online store - but I wouldn't mind getting one with this card.
I know I could just call, but hey, if it gives you a mission...
hey, it's after 1:30 pm in the washington-baltimore area....have you played with the iMac yet?? don't hold out on us....or are you still waiting to get on a machine because the line is soooo looonggg....
keep us updated...check the profiler...look for the os (10.1.2?? 10.1.3??), the ram, ect...
how easily does the arm move, how nice does the screen look, how fast does it seem, does the SuperDrive seem really firm and strong....etc etc...g
All your question have been discussed in other posts. It'sOS 10.1.2. The arm moves rather easily but requires some pressure. Screen is as bright as the Cinema Display. Superdrive tray is firm and is black. It's as fast as OS X will allow. The sky is blue.
yeah, but i like to hear it from different people...at least untill i get mine, and then i won't care what anybody thinks plus, i keep hoping that newer systems may be updated to 10.1.3....
Wow, it was amazing (the store)! The ipod looks sooo cool in real life! As for the new iMac I ordered one today! I really wanted to get it sooner, but the sane part of me won out. As for the new iMac:
1. Wow
2. I ordered one!
3. It was bigger than I expected.
4. Lust Factor: 100
5. The screen was the best I had ever seen, even (IMHO) better than the 17 inch studio display.
6. The screen does float in mid-air!
7. The Apple store people had no idea about the superdrive burn time (encoding and burning), one guy said it might be around 2 1/4 x.
8. They still had free water!
9. The superdrive door was kinda clunky.
10. OS X was very snappy.
As for everything else:
No Radeon cards that I saw, the guy said that the video card in the new iMac was not upgradeable (integrated). The RAM had was so-dimm (user slot) and pc-133. The guy was puzzled why apple would'nt let the buyer put in 1 gig, so I ordered mine with 512 and I plan on buying a 512 so-dimm. The eggrolls at the food court are really good! Also, there were about 8-15 people there all the time, and there was a (small) line for the new iMac. Oh ya, traffic sucked, and I hate those stupid protesters.
