Superbowl Commercial

in General Discussion edited January 2014
I have been wondering why there has been no release of an iMac commercial yet. At first I thought it was because they were not yet shipping or in stores. that may have played a part but it occured to me today.

Superbowl Commercial

I predict an iMac revolution type message for the superbowl with some hints or direct mention of OSX and how cool it is. Lets hope for a full minuit. They didn't buy Steve a jet this year so why not blow some cash.

Side note: I think they should just have a commercial of Steve talking about how insanly great Apple is. the RDF works man.

What do you all think?

I think this has already been discussed...

Anyway, Apple has not purchased any time for national advertising during the Superbowl. They may have some time regionally or locally, but that info isn't as publicly available.

And mot didn't have a completed Apollo processor until yesterday or Nividia didn't have Gforce4.

Steve has a way of keeping people quiet.

Apple will not be advertising during the Superbowl broadcast. All time has been sold. Go here for list of advertisers:

NEW YORK ( -- Fox added two new first-half Super Bowl advertisers, Quizno's Corp. and Yahoo!, at an estimated $2 million per 30-second spot, according to executives familar with the situation.

That left an estimated 10 Super Bowl spots, all in the second half, which could be picked up at an estimated $1.7 million each, the executives estimated.

    Appear you are incorrect

That story was from a week ago. My friend at Fox told me all time was now sold.

UPDATE: As of today (1/30) there are still 3 one minute spots unsold. Fox is having trouble because of the economy and continued low ratings of the Superbowl the past few years. There were tentative sales but they didn't go through according to my friend at Fox. So, will Apple run a spot. I think no way. The new iMac is not readily available and won't be in good supply until April (all 3 models). Why advertise a product that people may not be able to buy?

I still think we will see a commercial.

Perhaps it won't be the iMac- but more of a general Apple Ad featuring the new iMac osX- maybe with the desire to bring people into the stores.
