Will you be angry, uneasy or terror-stricken?
I became very unsettled when I read the opinions below.

What's that supposed to mean? Displays? You can get other brands. Peripherals? You can get other brands. Software? You can get other brands!
[quote]There is very little in the way of software available for the Apple when you compare it to the PC offerings.<hr></blockquote>
That's true. However, I'm willing to bet that 80% of that PC software is crap.
[quote]That is why I am going to tell you to stay clear of them. Another problem with the Apple computer operating system is the fact that it is completely different than operating systems for the PC (whether we are talking Windows, OS/2 or Linux).<hr></blockquote>
Yeah, so? Variety in life is good.
[quote]Their new OS which they call OS X is based on Linux, but it is still different enough to prevent you from doing anything with it because all the cool linux programs are designed to run on a PC platform.<hr></blockquote>
Ha, Linux, right. Anyway, the cool UNIX programs can be recompiled to run on OS X and I've recompiled a Linux app (though it did require a bit of modification... ) to run on X..
[quote]So why are they having this problem? In my opinion it is because they are short sighted and greedy.<hr></blockquote>
ROFL! Ever heard of a company called Microsoft?
[quote]They aren't giving enough incentive to developers to do anything for the Apple OS and because they don't have developers making software, you aren't getting 3rd party people making all those cool accessories.<hr></blockquote>
There aren't very many cool accessories that I can think of that don't run on the Mac. Of course, there are always some, but we have the iPod and they don't! Ha!
[quote]Only recently have you seen MAC accessories start back up and that was simply because of the USB revolution, and the fact that Apple is starting to see the writing on the wall (again).<hr></blockquote>
Grrrr! I hate everyone who says "MAC"! It's not a bloody acronym!
About Apple finally seeing the writing on the wall: Apple started the USB revolution, and there have been peripherals and accessories all along.
[quote]My advice is to stay clear of anything Apple and watch carefully what happens in the next few years. When Apple policy changes, when more and more software starts coming out, it will be time to re-evaluate investing in Apple computer hardware. Games will be a huge indication. When you start seeing 2 rows of Computer games at the store for Apple computers, it will be time to buy one.
3 out of 3 Stars for the hardware, but I think this article shows that if you are a home user, Apple is just not what you should be using.<hr></blockquote>
Anyone who won't buy a computer because a game isn't available on isn't worthy of buying a computer in the first place. People that devoted to gaming obviously have no life.
Not only does the reviewer sound like a half-literate 13 year-old, but so does the disclaimer. Lazy. There are valid reasons not to buy an Apple, but this barely touches the real problems: a lack of software and a different OS are two problems but are either not understood or not explained by the author.

I'm rather sad I didn't get to read the whole, incredible poorly written (from a tech perspective and an English perspective) article.
ciao,
michael
Sounds like a Windows droid to me. There is no getting through to these people, just let them be and hope they don't corrupt many people they come into contact with.
<strong>Urgghh, what an idiot this author is. I'm still reeling from his bias and ineptitude. He clearly knows little about Macs, and yet he feels it his duty to condemn Apple not only to obscurity, but for having immoral business practices.

Yeah - a former friend of mine hates Macs, but he also hates M$ products. Oddly enough, he praises Windoze 2000 (and uses it on all his PCs). I think the only reason he likes M$ in the first place (or doesn't ) is because PCs are cheaper, so he's had a PC before a Mac. In fact, he does not own a Mac and never has. Poor thing...he is so deprived. Macs at my house outnumber PCs, although I like to keep up to date on both.

Actually the software has already been hacked together to work on windows. Its amazing how fast somethign gets done when you have 2 billion monkeys typing away at compilers so that their toys will work.
problem with the Apple computer operating system is the fact that it is completely different than operating systems for the PC
Yes, beware of Macs, for they have an interface that is different from windows.
It actually looks... different than windows (I would like ot point out that the operating elements are extremely similar)
The horror... the horror...
That's true. However, I'm willing to bet that 80% of that PC software is crap.
90%. Im not kidding, I cant find a good app to do anything because everything thats out there is a bloated over priced underfeatures POS. It amazes me that Apple gives away stuff like iPhoto (not that Ive used it, but the features are really cool).
Crapware is what I call it.
