I'm 56 and have always followed World Cups because they are a snap shot every 4 years of where football is at.
Yes, I know the arguments - it's a competiition designed to find a winner but it does reflect what happening in general - as far as football is concerned.

This World Cup has to be the best one ever - here we are at the finish of group 1 and 2 finals with a huge amount of uncertainty in the other groups. Italy Uruguay tomo am (for me) is massive.
Never have I seen in group play the amount of goals let alone the quality of play and goals scored.
The spirit of fair play in which the teams have exhibited has to be commended and applauded..
Fantastic - anyways just thought I'd throw this out there.
Cheers, r

When's the final? If Brazil are playing, I might watch it.

Luckily woke up in time to see the Brazil - Germany match.  Wow.

The number of records/whatever in the match was amazing.

Brazil lost at home for the first time in almost 30 years.

Only once before have Brazil allowed 7 goals, not at home, though.

Klose passed Renaldo as top scorer in a World Cup.

There are more, but it must be hard on Brazil; they must be in shock.  They played real dirty in the last match... 36 fouls?  And their best defensive player, Silva missed today's match.  Neymar was out, too.

The US team did pretty well; is soccer (or what is now being called "football" in England as a backlash against American's calling it soccer???) gaining popularity?

    Semi-final and Brazil are out.

Germany will play either the Argentines or the Dutch in the final.

What's funny is that 'soccer' is what the English originally called it. The name 'football' came afterwards, and for a while the 2 were interchangeable.
