AI Deals: $100-$200 off 17 mid-2014 MacBook Pros; Free AppleCare with any Mac; $20 cash bonus on iPa
This weekend AppleInsider is highlighting a number of exclusive offers -- some new and some about to expire -- such as $100-$200 discounts on a dozen additional mid-2014 MacBook Pro models, free 3-year AppleCare Protection Plans with the purchase of any Mac, and a $20 cash trade-in bonus on any iPad valued at $75 or more.
$100-$200 off 17 mid-2014 MacBook Pros
Earlier this week we noted aggressive price reductions on mid-2014 MacBook Pros within Apple's authorized reseller channel. One reseller, MacMall, offers AI readers an additional 3% off those reduced prices when using the links below or in the Price Guides and then applying Promo / Coupon Code APPLEINSIDER01. This translated to the most advantageous pricing ever for stock configuration MacBook Pros so shortly after their introduction. Since then, MacMall has extended those discounts to a number of CTO models, many of which are either in stock or shipping within 2-5 days. Some of the highlights are listed below with their savings off Apple's MSRP. Those savings don't factor in the additional $100-$250 that many readers will save since MacMall will only collect sales tax on orders shipped to CA, CO, GA, IL, MN, NC, NY, TN, and WI.

After following the directions here precisely, I see the following error at step 8 (when entering coupon code AP08072014):
I successfully set up and logged into a VIP account on Adorama before adding the item to my cart, and I’m trying to ship to CA.
Anyone else have any luck?
Heh, I was wondering why the article made me think of the old 17" MBP. It was subliminal for me...
The 2009 era macbook pro has stood the test of time, and doesn't have any soldier issues like some of the new models. Anytime I need a new laptop I get one of the 17" 2009 models from Amazon for $600 to $800 - no app I run has a noticeable speed difference.
The Adorama and BH deals are great! I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from MacMall. They are like the sleazy used car salesmen of Apple products.

I bought two MBPs and 2 MBA from MacMall over the years because they offered the lowest prices and they ship fast. The only issue I had with them is the telemarketing calls after the sale. I asked them to not call me unless it is something directly related to an order and they stopped calling.
Now I am will be buying my MBP from someone else.. someone who does not collect taxes in my state Maybe Adorama or B&H.
I am also unable to use the promotion code for Adorama. I talked to a sales representative today and they were also unable to enter the promotion code.
$97/hr pavivdv by Google, I am making a good salary from home $5500$7000/week , which is amazing, under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions and now it's my duty to pay it forward and share it with Everyone, Here is I started,,,

Adorama=$1968, MacMall=$1907 and B&H =$1837 ( and that included a free parallels 9 = $59)
Went with B&H seems like a good deal......
When I contacted Adorama about the problem with the code, I was told the price posted on the Adorama website was correct and no discount was necessary. It was only after I read this August 9 article more carefully (the August 10 date mention is buried near the end of the article) did I realize the likely reason why the code didn't work anymore.
I've asked Adorama to close my account, and I won't buy anything promoted on AppleInsider from now on.
I tried to order a mid-2014 MacBook Pro from Adorama today, and I think I may have stumbled upon the reason why my code didn't work, either.
When I found that the code didn't work on the site, I contacted Adorama; their customer service rep said the price listed on the site was correct and no other discounts were necessary. I checked the original AppleInsider article written on August 4 to confirm the deadline was August 12, and it was. Then I checked the follow-up article written on August 9, and the deadline had changed. Near the end of the August 12 article I found this buried near the end of the article:
For those readers who prefer to purchase an extended protection plan with their new Mac,AppleInsider has been teamed up Apple Authorized Reseller Adorama to give away 3-Year AppleCare Protection Plans with the purchase of each Mac from now till Aug. 10th.
So it seems the deadline was moved up two days between August 4 and 9. I've contacted Adorama to delete my account and I don't expect to purchase any Mac products from an AppleInsider offer again.
It would be a very nice addition to a very nice intention if, when posting these offers, AI could just ensure they work…after all, someone went to a very great deal of trouble to create the price lists and the step-by-step guides, so just that tiny extra bit would have been nice.
I'd have liked to purchase my daughter's new MBPro from Adorama - more machine, fewer dollars - but, after 20 or so tries, with numerous drawbacks - from not presenting the join/sign in box so that the special offer could be tried, to Adorama curiously adding 2 or even 3 computers instead of one, as well as the already complained-about issue of the code not being accepted - I'm throwing in the towel…thanks, Adorama!!!
