Does Apple monitor these boards?

I was wondering if Apple monitors these and other popular boards for the purposes of feedback.

The reason I was ondering is that there are quite a few missing featurers in some of thier applications and I wonder how Apple knows what it's customers want. It isn't easy to send feedback to Apple.

For example I would like to see 16:9 material supported by iDVD and chapters in iMovie. How can one relate this to apple and get them to believe that there is a demand for such featurers. On the other hand if they read these board they could "evesdrop" on our conversations and get a pretty good idea of the things that bug us.

So what is the answer, do they or don't they?

Actually there are a few market research companies and promotional outlets that now work through the net and it's associated communities to read/create 'buzz'

I dunno if Apple uses any of them.

Apple has someone monitoring most of the discussion boards. I'm not sure who our rep is. He hasn't come forward. It was Sal Saghoian before the Great Blackout.

How did they find out about Workerbee? Were they monitoring then?

If someone from Apple is reading this, I have a great idea to really get out the buzz about how great Apple is...FREE iPOD for all the AI members!

    Pretty please?

I think this would also greatly increase the number of AI members...

Not only that, but Steve Jobs frequently posts on here under the name of "Macintosh."

I don't think Sal was a 'monitor.' He was just Mr. AppleScript Guru with a little bit of free time.

People from Apple surf to AppleInsider all the time.

Probably for their amusement. I hope they don't spend too much time though, they need to keep coming up with new products.

If they do, you can bet that had Macintosh not canceled his order, he'd get getting an iMac with 7 dead pixels right in the middle of his screen.

"Sorry you little shit...uh, sir... that still falls within acceptable limits."

I know for a fact that some Apple people browse the boards. especially looking for breaches of NDA.

Not that I would know anything about that

I believe that Aphelion is the employee assigned to us at the moment. Well, maybe assigned is the wrong word, but he has stated that his superiors know that he is on these boards.

Try <a href="http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/"; target="_blank">here</a>. There isn't a specific option for iDVD or iMovie, but at least (it appears) Apple reads this feedback.

Alternatively, try heckling Apple employees at workshops, like Michaelm8000.

Apple continually monitor these boards to see how well the RDF is holding.

then they go and tap in the details on their 2GHz Dells.
