What's your point?? Apple always has amazing products in development. As an AAPL shareholder I'd be worried if they didn't.

    Oooooh, this is really exciting news..... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Of course SJ is gonna say this...what else is he likely to say? "..Ummm, well, we've got nothing in the pipeline and we dont see anyway out of this current industry slump..."

    Sheesh!! <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

"We're thinking of very little these days, actually. Any of you have any good ideas...we're flat stumped! I mean, it's pretty common knowledge we shot our wad with the new iMac and OS X. We got nothin'..."

But seriously, I predict a significant Power Mac G4 update/tweak (MWNY) and a brand new digital hub device of some sort, and perhaps even a new iApp by year's end. All that, and the expected updates/revs to the iMac, eMac, iPod, iBook, PowerBook, various iApps and other Apple software (OS X, QuickTime, FCP, etc.), spread throughout the remainder of 2002. After MWNY, we got Seybold, Paris and the possibility of 1 or more standalone "special events" (a la the dual USB and iPod unveilings).

Anything is possible...and it's all good!

I guess I am easily impressed, but I can't wait for OSX 10.2...

One of the things he'll have to discuss is why the company had to track their estimates lower...sales are indeed off in their "creative" market....which I interpret to mean their pro sales.

They'd better be dropping some slick new pro hardware or the trend will continue.

The operative word he uses is "new". I'm thinking this means the new products in development aren't a part of their current product matrix.

Of course, this says nothing about if and when they plan on releasing anything.

Well, Steve could have said, "We're going to lay off 10% of our workforce due to the slowdown." That's what most CEOs are doing these days. Instead, he chose to innovate out of the slump. That shows guts, innitiative and creativity.

I'm sure much of Apple's slump is caused by a drop in sales on their professional line - people are waiting for new G4s or G5s or whatever is in the wings to replace the aging towers. We'll know in a few weeks.

Steve didn't say it, the CFO Anderson said it during the profit warning conference call.

No, Steve Jobs said it in a third quarter guidance press release: <a href="http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2002/jun/18guidance.html"; target="_blank">here</a>.

Yes, but I also remeber that from the beginning of this year. . . . That's why everyone's giving you a hard time.

Well that?s just vague enough to come true.

He said new products, and I?m expecting a hybrid still/video camera, a pen input device or display, possibly wireless, wireless input devices, maybe even wireless headphones, an iApp or a few to solve problems like videoconferencing and telephony, and I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a ?pro? telephony app as well that could turn your business Mac into an all-out answering service or PBX station (with lots more goodies, of course, but I don't want to get off on a tangent). That 3d rendering software from all the acquisitions is just a matter of time, as well.

Plus the obvious updates to the current software (iApps and 10.2/10.5, which will probably be called ?new?), and of course hardware, especially the PowerBook G4 which is due for a makeover/redesign/revamp come next MWSF (two year cycles, remember?), which falls within the ?next year? of amazing new products as quoted.

Hell, I wouldn?t even be shocked if with all of the branching out Apple is doing (all of the different models, the eMac, the Xserve, the pen input, the digital hub devices), if they admitted they were just smokescreening with the ?we have no interest in handhelds at this time? comments, and came out with that PDA everybody wants.

    It?s an exciting time, indeed.

Stay tuned for Firewire based Cameras(Still) and Camcorders(DV), (maybe even both combined in one product).

    NO NEW iApps

The only one would be a Sound Recording Thing, yet that wouldn't work.

For all the other iApps, almost no skill is involved to make something. With MAKING MUSIC some skill is involved! And also, you need an input.,....

so unless Apple realizes that audio-in is a good thing, no new iApps~!

I'm just looking forward to the Videoconferencing App Steve spoke about awhile back. My (obvious) guess would be an MPEG4 Audio/Video extension on iChat. That would be one more free iApp that would kick bootie... (Did you know XP home/pro doesn't even come with Net-meeting installed and Microsoft doesn't provide links as to were you can download an XP compatible version?) Interesting...
