But that’s wrong. It wasn’t in one day.

And then you would say "Don't store anything valuable in your house."

And people simply aren't going to use 25+ character passwords. This was demonstrated with an old password dump:

The arstechnica link says the password cracker can bruteforce all the passwords that people used there in 65 seconds. Even with a slower cloud service, it could be done in a few days as long as it didn't slow down the password input.

I used to be a system admin manager for a large hosting company and I've seen all kinds of attacks(unfortunately, some succeeded).   If you have a strong password(especially if it's random), brute force method WILL NOT work.   They normally use a collection of common passwords.  The ones that do get cracked are using passwords like "changeme" and other variations of common passwords...so, "ChangeMe", "chang3m3".    If you google the password and it shows up, don't use it!  Doesn't matter how long/complex it is.

It seems like this is not some recent mass attack.

It is merely a group of perverts and hackers who congregate on one of those seedy forums like 4chan, and they've been collecting, hacking and trading nude celeb photos for a while now, from various sources.

It's only news now, because a lot of photos have been released at once from that collection.

This is a non story, in my opinion.

Kate Upton? That prostitute has privacy too? I always thought she was pornstar. Selena Gomes, just because she had sex with that 12 year old creature doesn't make her star. As for my favorite ladies Kirsten Dunst, Kaley C., Mary Elisabeth W. and especially Jennifer Lawrence, i'm not worried, Apple will take good care of them and for the rest of them, I hope they will go back and being nobody

I don't understand the point of any of that.

I agree it's a non story in that iCloud probably wasn't hacked.    However, the media keeps saying iCloud was hacked.  Some of them aren't even saying "allegedly" anymore, they're just saying iCloud was compromised.    The only way to stop this is for Apple to come out and say it wasn't hacked.  This just goes to show that most media are just lazy and recirculate the same story between them instead of doing their own fact checking.

It more impacts Apple's plans to have everyone upload all of their photos to iCloud. I image next week they will have to go into some detail explaining how they secure the photos.

The "media" now relies on and incorporates Twitter opinions in their stories instead of fact-checking. I don't need talking heads telling me what's on Twitter. They're irrelevant.

First they need to figure out exactly what happened and how it happened, before they can make any claims to not being responsible for it.

They'll own up to it if it's their fault, I suppose and assumedly fixes would be in place before such an announcement.

It's morning for you, where you are. I'm the one who's about to go to sleep.

Correct. I was simply thinking of other people, but I guess you simply don't have the capability to do that. You may very well be the first person to not only suffer from misogyny and misandry. I guess that's a good thing; you are probably unique in that respect.
People who might suffer from any potential sleep disorders after reading my posts is obviously not a big concern of mine.

Obviously. Thing is, you don't seem to (<what's the use here anyway)

Your previous post amounts to nothing but trolling in my opinion, since you took offense to my rant.

I'm not even sure what your point is, since I was attacking the amateurish media and I was attacking the pervert hackers.

Are you attempting to defend either the amateurish media or the perverts?

I have a suggestion for Apple(if anyone from there is reading this).   Why not add a "private mode" option for the iPhoto(kind of like private mode for safari).  While it's enabled, no photos will get synced with the iCloud.  That way, your normal stuff will still get synced(which i think most people DO prefer).

That is a very good idea. You could also keep private photos from being synced with iPhoto. They can call this new option CelebrityMode™ or PaparazziSafe™.

Thanks for those links. She appears to be doing very well in het defence. I like this part:
Luckily, I don’t use Android, which I wouldn’t trust to take a timelapse video of a flower I wasn’t even planning on ever watching. I have two phones, a Windows Phone and iPhone - both with different complex passwords after a short delay, enforced encryption, automatic wiping after 4 bad attempts, VPN, and whose cellular service are each under a different account.

This one gave me a chuckle:
Free password you can use: tay10rd$wi4t
Usually it's very jokey but do to these pictures being stolen and uploaded the person that runs it has gotten a little more serious. Hopefully that ends soon.

Fully agree, hope this frenzy ends soon.

I meant the camera app, not iPhoto.

    What an absurd suggestion.

I will continue to attack the lame, incompetent, lying media and the perverted, criminal hackers as much as I will. Why wouldn't I?

Why do you stick up for bad people?

Aren't there already plenty of photo syncing controls in Settings » iCloud » Photos?
